The world's largest honey bottling plant has just broken ground in Iowa.

The Sioux City plant will be owned by Sioux Honey Association Co-Op. In business since 1921, Sioux Honey's Sue Bee honey has been a staple in pantries across the country for multiple generations. The company initially started with five beekeepers and has grown exponentially since then, underscored by the construction of this plant.

Inside the $130 Million Bottling Plant:

Sioux Honey's new $130 million bottling plant is an investment in infrastructure capable of producing the company's current items but also allowing room for innovation and the production of new products alike.

While there was temptation to look elsewhere, the company decided to stay and build in Siouxland, even consolidating their Anaheim plant to bring jobs to Sioux City:

The number we landed on in our first blush was 35 positions. That probably doesn’t include office staff. As we progress, we intend to continue to grow our brand business which will require more administrative help in our office space as well - Sioux Honey President and CEO Kevin Hueser, per KTIV

Sioux Honey's current facility in Sioux City is 225,000-square-feet versus this new bottling plant, which will be 440,000-square-feet. It will be home to a raw material warehouse, processing equipment, and several bottling lines, per KTIV.

Despite the growth and changes that inevitably comes with a company that lasts for over 100 years, Kevin Heuser commented on how loyal Sioux Honey's customers remain:

There were a lot of bee keepers in the state of Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. That has changed over the last several decades because of modern farming and more row crops, but our facility has always been here, our skill set and our team members have always been in this region, and it’s where we were founded - Sioux Honey President and CEO Kevin Hueser, per KTIV
