Camp Courageous is an Eastern Iowa nonprofit organization in Monticello. Their mission, according to their website, is to "provide exceptional year-round recreational and respite care opportunities for individuals with special needs and their families. The camp is run primarily on donations, giving all individuals the opportunity to give through gifts of time, materials, money, and other means that support the camp."
To achieve this mission of helping kids across Eastern Iowa communities, they hold several annual fundraisers, including a Pancake Breakfast & Open House, the Manchester Garage Sale, the Pineapple Gala, and perhaps the biggest event of the year, Cruisin' For Camp Courageous. You can get details on these and other events they hold on their website, but another milestone is being reached by the organization this year.
In its 50th anniversary year, the camp has been chosen by Bloomsbury Farm to be their nonprofit charity of choice to be honored with a commemorative corn maze.
According to a media release from Bloomsbury Farm, a corn maze reveal is planned for 11:30 AM on Thursday, September 1st at Bloomsbury Farm near Atkins, IA to show how they have incorporated the Camp Courageous logo and its 50th anniversary into the maze design. Bloomsbury Farm has invited the campers to spend the day enjoying the maze as well as all of the other activities they have available.
Staff, campers, and the media were invited to Bloomsbury Farm recently for the corn maze unveiling.
Bloomsbury Farm is open to the public when its fall season starts on September 16. Learn about their Sunflower Festival (Fridays-Sundays September 16-25), Harvest Festival (Fridays-Sundays September 30-October 16), and Scream Acres (dates TBD) activities here.
