Yes, the #2 ranked Iowa Hawkeye wrestling team came up short recently against top-ranked Penn State. However, Iowa topped PSU in a different way on Tuesday. The recruiting game.

The wrestling world waited yesterday for word on where the #1 recruit in the class of 2026 would continue his wrestling career. Bo Bassett gave Hawkeye fans another reason to cheer as the high school legend officially committed to the University of Iowa according to the Des Moines Register.

The Des Moines Register reports that Bassett is a huge fan of Iowa wrestling legend Spencer Lee. No doubt the chance to train alongside his favorite wrestler of all time at Iowa was a huge selling point in his decision to come to Iowa City. Another reason? NIL money.

At least one Facebook page, The Penn State Bank Button Society, is reporting that Bassett got an NIL deal at Iowa worth a staggering $5 million. Penn State's offer was reportedly half that.

No matter the reason, welcome to Iowa, Bo! LET'S GO HAWKS!
