Iowa’s Five Favorite Stay at Home Activities
With sunshine in the forecast and temperatures expected to rise into the 70s this week in Eastern Iowa, according to CBS2, it's no wonder people are getting cabin fever. But in these perilous times it's important to observe the guidelines our leaders are calling on us to follow.
There are plenty of ways you can enjoy yourself (and a limited amount of company) in the comfort of your own home. Chances are you already have some of the necessary equipment needed. But even if you don't you can still compromise and have fun doing it.
Fire up the Grill - whether it's hot dogs and burgers, or veggie-mushroom kabobs, there's nothing like an early summer cookout to lift your spirits. The smell of grilling food is second only to Crunchberries in Cedar Rapids.
Sidewalk Chalk Messages - This is a perfect way to keep the kids occupied and grown ups too. You don't have to be artistically inclined, but it doesn't hurt if you are!
Extra Walks for the Dog - My little mutt is loving the fact that he is getting extra walks every day. He thinks its because he's such a good puppy. We know it's because dad is getting restless.
Plant a Garden - It doesn't have to be a big deal, just a few seeds in a cup inside on a sunny window ledge to start with. Then transfer the seedlings into a few small plant pots. Try some easy-to-grow herbs like basil and early-crop veggies like spinach.
Read book while lounging in the sun - or listen to a book. Or music. With headphones so you can wrap yourself into your own world and truly enjoy the soundscape without bothering others.
