Iowans Make Tesla Commercial Using Cedar Falls' 'Everyday Astronaut'

Tim Dodd of Cedar Falls is known as the 'Everyday Astronaut' to his fans. Dodd will dress up in an old space suit and teach people about space and science. Dodd and a friend, Neil Johnson, ended up using the astronaut character in a competition by car manufacturer Tesla. Suddenly the 'Everyday Astronaut' is getting national attention!

Tesla asked fans to make a commercial. The one that got the most votes on Twitter would be declared the winner. Tesla got over 100,000 submissions. Only one featured an Eastern Iowa man dressed up in an old Russian astronaut suit. Dodd and Johnson ended up finishing in 2nd place!

The commercial was recently featured at a Tesla event this past weekend along with the other contest winners. A futuristic car and the 'Everyday Astronaut' proved to be a winning combination!
