Iowa WR Jay Scheel Ending His Football Career
Iowa wide receiver Jay Scheel announced Sunday that his football career is over. Scheel made his announcement on Instagram.
Scheel has undergone two knee procedures already and was battling another problem and felt his best option was to walk away from football.
Schell was a football standout from Union High School in La Porte City, Iowa. Early injuries at Iowa limited his playing time. Schell made his first catch this season and will finish his Iowa career with five receptions for 56 yards.
Iowa will return Senior Matt VandeBerg for the 2017 season as well as Jerminic Smith and true freshman Devonte Young. New recruits at Iowa will have a shot at playing time right away.
