With Rose Bowl fever in full swing this week, you may not have noticed that Big 10 basketball tips off tonight. The Iowa Hawkeye men enter tonights conference opener with a record of 9-3, 6-0 at home. That win streak will be tested tonight against the #1 team in the nation, Michigan State.

The Spartans seemingly are great every year. Tom Izzo has something to do with that. But if Fran McCaffery's Hawks have a shot it might be tonight. Iowa is at home, and the Spartans are without their best player Denzel Valentine who is out another two weeks with a wrist injury. Make no mistake about it though, the Spartans are plenty loaded to take on Iowa even without Valentine. The game also holds special meaning for Iowa guard Anthony Clemens. He grew up in Lansing, Michigan and played with Valentine and Spartan guard Bryn Forbes. They were more than teamates...they were best friends. But all that gets pushed to the side tonight. Clemmons has never beaten Michigan State.

Can tht Hawks pull off the upset? Iowa vs. Michigan State tips tonight at 8pm on The Big Ten Network. Go Hawks!
