Iowa Tight Ends Looking To Make History At NFL Draft
I love the NFL Draft, but I am officially over anyone who thinks they have any idea what any of these teams are going to do. Will Kyler Murray go #1? Will several players drop? The answer is who the heck knows! Even Mel Kiper and his perfectly crafted hair claim they know. But they don't. One thing we DO know is that a couple of Iowa tight ends will be drafted by an NFL team. And both could hear their name called Thursday night!
The first round of the NFL Draft is Thursday night in Nashville. Iowa tight ends TJ Hockenson and Noah Fant could both be drafted in the first round. Mock drafts have them all over the place, with Hockenson's draft status being higher. A popular landing spot for him seems to be at #12 to Green Bay. He'd give Aaron Rodgers another fun target to throw to.
Noah Fant is a little tougher to peg. Some have him going to Green Bay if Hockenson goes even earlier. Many have him as a late first-round pick. But once again, it all depends on how teams have players ranked. If both tight ends go in the first round it will mark the first time since 1997 that two Iowa players have gone that high in the NFL Draft.
Other Hawkeyes to watch for include defensive back Amani Hooker, a likely day two pick, and defensive end Anthony Nelson, a possible day three pick.
