Iowa State Unveils Plans for Changes Between Hilton & Jack Trice
Some major changes could be on their way in Ames, between Jack Trice Stadium, home of Cyclone football, and Hilton Coliseum, which hosts the university's winter sports.
Jamie Pollard, Iowa State Athletic Director, revealed the plan this morning. Here's what he imagines:
Pollard and Rick Sanders, ISU Research Park President, were put in charge of the project by Iowa State President Wendy Wintersteen. Sanders and Pollard will now conduct a study to see if the plan is feasible. Not only would it redevelop the land between the two stadiums, but it would also include parking to the east of University Boulevard. A new parking area for that location is part of the plans. It would be a necessity since some of the current parking between the two venues would be lost.
The feasibility study is expected to take about three months. The Ames Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Iowa State Athletic Department will fund the study.
When universities get behind this type of project, it seems they almost always happen. We'll have to wait and see if that's the case this time.
