Vice President's Trip to Ames Postponed
The Des Moines Register reports that Vice President JD Vance was scheduled to appear in Iowa on Thursday, April 30th. He was going to appear at a campaign event alongside U.S. Representative Zach Nunn. Later, the Register reports that Vance was set to attend a Turning Point USA event on the Iowa State University campus. He was going to be joined by Erika Kirk, the widow of Turning Point founder Charlie Kirk. Both events have now been canceled.
Campaign Stop Has Been Rescheduled
The Register reports that the campaign event with Rep. Nunn has been rescheduled to Tuesday, May 4th. Nunn is expected to be needed for a House vote on April 30th, according to political insiders. Nunn has stated this week that he is continuing his fight for the farm bill, according to the Register.

Why Was the Turning Point Event Canceled?
The Register reports that Turning Point USA stated that a scheduling conflict with the Vice President caused the event to be canceled. Iowa State was unable to reschedule for a later date due to final exams that will take place in the coming weeks. Officials say that the cancellation is not due to security concerns.
Turning Point USA says that it remains fully committed to bringing the Vice President back to the Iowa State campus, possibly as soon as the fall semester, according to the Register.
