Iowa School District Has to Pay, But Gets Playground Back

Last week, I told you about an Iowa school district that had lost their playground over $248 and the new owners had padlocked the gates. The school has managed to get it back, but it cost them some additional money.

One of the Colo-NESCO school district playgrounds, in Zearing, was sold for $248 to satisfy a tax debt owed on the property at the time the school purchased it. The school has said they weren't aware of the overdue tax. After the $248 sale of the playground, the new owner closed and padlocked the gates and asked the school for $50,000 to purchase it back.

KCCI reports the school officially got their playground back, yesterday. The cost was $2,500. Kids will be back on that playground soon, once the title is transferred back to the school district.
