Two Players with Iowa Ties Win WNBA Championship

While much of Iowa would have liked to have seen Caitlin Clark's Indiana Fever in the WNBA Finals, they got another Ace's title run instead. The Las Vegas Aces completed their run to the WNBA championship, knocking out Phoenix in four games. Two players with Iowa ties can now call themselves WNBA champions!

Las Vegas Aces Win WNBA Title

The Aces won their third WNBA title in four seasons on Friday night. Only Houston, which won the first four WNBA championships in league history, has a better Finals record, according to CBS2. Aja Wilson became the first player in league history to win regular-season MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and Finals MVP in the same season.

Two Players from Iowa are on the Aces Roster

Congratulations to former Iowa Hawkeye Megan Gustafson, who won her first WNBA title with the Aces!

Gustafson signed with Las Vegas during the 2024 season after stints with Dallas, Washington, and Phoenix. She was the National Player of the Year at Iowa in 2019, and her #10 jersey hangs in the rafters at Carver Hawkeye Arena.

Former Linn Mar star and three-time National Champion at UConn, Kiah Stokes, was also a member of the Las Vegas Aces. Stokes' defensive prowess helped the Aces win the title, which is Stoke's third WNBA title!
