Iowa typically makes the good half of lists from WalletHub, but not this time! A new study from the site has Iowa ranked number 30 on the list of the most patriotic states in America.

Before we get into specifics, though, we need to know exactly HOW they came up with their list. The article states that they used "13 key indicators of patriotism." Some of those indicators are numbers of military enlistees, numbers of veterans, percentages of adults who voted in the last presidential election, and volunteer rates. Iowa did exceptionally well in one of those categories, ranking 4th in the nation for highest volunteer rates. Overall, though, we ranked 39th in the overall category of 'Military Engagement' and 24th for 'Civic Engagement.'

So, who did the best? The top 3 most patriotic states according to this list are New Hampshire, Wyoming, and Vermont. The least patriotic are New Jersey, New York, and Calfornia.
