Iowa is in the Top Half of the List of the Best States for Single People

Being single in Iowa is better than being single in Mississippi!

There's been a lot of focus on couples lately (thanks to Valentine's Day), so let's stop and take a second to talk about the single people out there. WalletHub ranked all 50 states based on "23 key indicators of dating-friendliness," to find out which states are the best and the worst for singles. Fortunately, Iowa ranked in the top half of the list!

Iowa came in at #21 overall, and came in 4th for the "dating economics" category. Our ranking for "dating opportunities," though? Not so great. We ended up in 38th place! Ouch!

Here are the top 5 states for the single people out there:

1. Washington
2. Colorado
3. California
4. Montana
5. South Dakota

On the OTHER end, here are the worst states for singles:

1. Mississippi
2. Alabama
3. Arkansas
4. West Virginia
5. Alaska
