An early morning shooting on Sunday on the Ped Mall in Iowa City has left five people injured, including three students from the University of Iowa.

Police Asking for the Public's Help

The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that Iowa City police are seeking the public's help in identifying "persons of interest" in the shooting that happened early Sunday morning, which injured five people. One person is in critical condition, and the other four are in stable condition. The Gazette reports that the shootings happened after a large fight on the Ped Mall. Surveillance cameras in the area show five individuals walking in the same direction, with their hands in their pockets.


Officers Called to the Scene of a Fight

The Gazette reports that Iowa City police responded to the fight at around 1:46 a.m. Sunday. When officers arrived, they reportedly heard gunfire. A UI Public Safety Hawk Alert was issued at 1:52 a.m., stating that gunshots had been heard in the area, and to stay away.
