Following this morning's senseless deadly shootings of Urbandale and Des Moines police officers, the people of Iowa are providing an outpouring of love.

24-year-old Urbandale officer, Justin Martin, and 38-year-old Des Moines officer, Anthony Beminio, were killed in the ambush-style attacks that occurred overnight. The suspect in the crimes, 46-year-old Scott Michael Greene, was taken into custody around 9 this morning.

Now, the people of Iowa, specifically central Iowa, have turned their attention to showing support for the Urbandale and Des Moines Police Departments.

Most touching of all is one encounter that was captured on video this morning. A distraught woman greets a member of the Urbandale Police Department, both in tears.

Hurts Donuts in Coralville is showing their support by selling special donuts for 48 hours, with all proceeds to the families of the slain officers.

When I woke up and heard the news this morning, I instantly had a pit in my stomach. Now it's happening here? Then I stopped myself. How can I think that, even for a split second? It doesn't matter where it's happening. It's unacceptable that those who have chosen to put their lives on the line every day to serve and protect us are being targeted.

Two different accounts have been set up to financially support the families of the officers killed. That information is below.
