Happy National Donut Day! We hope your day is filled with long johns, Boston cremes, glazed, and cake donuts galore! As you probably know by now, I...love...donuts. I don't discriminate taste, texture, or size! I just can't resist them. But today I'm allowed to have my fair share. We had some fun with donut holes on the show today, but we're even happier to team up with some friends and deliver donuts to some very deserving people.

The great people at Hy-Vee Food Stores of Cedar Rapids and Marion agreed to donate 50 dozen glazed donuts. You heard right. 50 dozen! That's 600 donuts people! Needless to say, that's too many for even me to enjoy. So we put our heads together and thought about a group of people that could use a pick me up on a Friday morning. It didn't take long to think about the amazing frontline healthcare workers in our city at both St. Lukes Hosptial and Mercy Medical Center. We're blessed to have both facilities in our city.

So this morning, we gave the gift of carbs to some hard-working healthcare workers at both Mercy Medical Center and St. Lukes Hospital. Joining us were Kristy Staker and KC Lyons from Hy-Vee Food Stores of Cedar Rapids and Marion. They even brought donut costumes for us to wear! The best part of the day was being able to say thank-you to all the front line COVID-19 employees at both local hospitals.

Thanks again to Hy-Vee for making National Donut Day with our local healthcare workers such a success!
