Investigators Pursue New Tip in Jodi Huisentruit Case [VIDEO]
Perhaps no other missing person case in the history of our state has generated the attention that the Jodi Huisentruit case has. Next June, it will be 30 years since the TV news anchor went missing, and authorities in multiple states are still searching for answers to her disappearance.
Jodi Huisentruit went missing on June 27th, 1995. She was a news anchor for KIMT in Mason City but began her career as a reporter for KGAN TV in Cedar Rapids. She told a co-worker that she had overslept and was late for work. She never arrived. Since authorities discovered signs of a struggle outside of her apartment, it is believed that Huisentruit was abducted. Years of clues, leads, and searches have failed to uncover any new clues in the case. Huisentruit was declared legally dead in 2001.
KCRG reports that a recent search just outside of the Twin Cities had a connection to the Huisentruit case. According to the website FindJodi, Iowa and Minnesota police had a large presence in Winsted, Minnesota near an apartment construction site. Residents in the area noticed law enforcement in the area and contacted FindJodi to see if there was any connection. Mason City Police Chief Jeff Brinkley issued a statement saying,
MCPD recently worked with Minnesota law enforcement officials to follow up on a lead in Winsted. MCPD continues to receive, evaluate, and follow up on information it receives related to Jodi Huisentruit’s disappearance on a regular basis. Information gleaned from this effort will be used in the ongoing investigation. At this time, there is no additional information for public release.
KCRG reports that authorities stated that anyone who may have information on the Jodi Huisentruit case can call Mason City Police at 641-421-3636.
