I know this probably sounds silly, but one of the things I miss the most about working a "normal" job is taking a lunch break. When you're doing a live radio show, you typically just scarf down your meals during songs or commercials breaks, because leaving for more than 5 minutes at a time really isn't an option. That means we usually have to eat food we bring from home since there are next to no delivery options in our area. Well, that's what I THOUGHT, anyway...

I've been hearing about all these great food delivery services like Grubhub and Uber Eats, but the problem is that none of them have made it to Cedar Rapids yet. What I didn't realize is that, even though we don't have those, we actually have two other food delivery services in our area. MyTown2Go has been around for a while, but another one has just arrived in Cedar Rapids called Bite Squad.

Bite Squad, founded in 2012, is a "leading independent provider of online and mobile food delivery services in the United States." This weekend is their grand opening weekend here in Cedar Rapids, so they're offering a really cool deal for new customers. If you order something from the service between 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 7th and 10 p.m. on Sunday, September, 9th, you will receive a free one-year membership to their subscription-based service, Unlimited. That will get you 12 months of free delivery from restaurants within a four-mile radius. Delivery fees usually start at $2.99 per order.

There are currently 28 Cedar Rapids restaurants you can order from using Bite Squad, including:

  • Grin N Goose
  • Wasabi
  • Aces & Eights
  • Bushwood
  • Zio Johno's
  • Firehouse Subs
  • Saucy Focaccia
  • Osaka Japanese Steakhouse
  • Red's Public House
  • Runt's Munchies
  • Butcher Block

Orders can be placed seven days a week between 10:30 a.m. and 10 p.m. using the app or their website - bitesquad.com. Check out the rest of the participating restaurants HERE.
