Spooky season is upon us!

The month of October will officially begin this week, which means Halloween is right around the corner. What better way to celebrate than by visiting a haunted house?

Circle of Ash
Circle of Ash

Circle of Ash Haunted Attraction at the Linn County Fairgrounds in Central City will open its gates for the season this Friday and Saturday, October 1st and 2nd. If you've never been before, you're seriously missing out! The attraction features three different experiences for customers, and yes, they're ALL scary! Here are the descriptions of each attraction from the website:

Circle of Ash: "The indoor haunted house of your nightmares, where everything is wrong, there are real things making those creaks, and looking under the bed might just be deadly."

Frightmare Forest: "Iowa's scariest haunted trail though the woods; come meet our monsters. They will happily terrorize you, if you don't run away from them screaming first. And featuring an all new zombie containment zone, we doubt there will be any survivors."

Socko's "Fun" House: "Socko's Fun House is a real maze, filled with fog, strobes, lasers and more. It's meant to disorient, disturb and confuse even the surest haunted house navigator, did we mention we locked all of our clowns in there?"

If you've been to Circle of Ash before, you should still visit again this season, because there are some new features to enjoy. In fact, when I stopped by to take a tour this weekend, there were a few surprises that I was told I was NOT allowed to take pictures of. You'll have to see them for yourself! What I can tell you is that the haunted house has cool new lighting, there will be a BLOOD FOUNTAIN, there's entertainment for folks waiting in line, various food trucks will be on-site if you get hungry, and Dragon's Lair will be hosting Laser Tag and Archery Tag for people who don't enjoy the scary stuff.

Circle of Ash will be open every Friday and Saturday in October from 8 p.m. to midnight. General admission tickets are $25 and will allow you one walk through all three attractions, fast pass tickets are $40 and will let you skip the lines, and VIP tickets are $60 and allow you to skip the lines AND go through the attractions as many times as you want! You can purchase your tickets in advance online HERE.
