Garth Brooks Is Coming to the Small Screen With New TV Special
Country music superstar Garth Brooks is used to playing for fans in sold-out stadiums across the globe; however, the singer is embarking on a new journey. Brooks will be going from a stage playing to thousands of people to a more intimate venue showing up on TV screens directly in their homes.
The superstar's new four-part TV special, Garth: The Road I'm On, will premiere this winter on the A&E channel as part of the Biography Presents series that airs on the network. The series touts itself as "[telling] the stories of the world's most original people," according to the show's official description.
Garth: The Road I'm On will focus on the singer's illustrious career; detailed via interviews with Brooks, his wife and fellow country music chart-topper Trisha Yearwood, and others that are close to the singer—including members of Brooks' original band, family and friends. While filming, the crew was given behind-the-scenes access to Brooks' current, massive 2019 Stadium Tour.
Before any announcement was made, Brooks knew that he already wanted A&E to air the documentary. According to The Boot, Brooks said, "If I was ever going to do a documentary on my life and music, I wanted A&E to do it,"
The singer then continued, "They have interviewed all the people who would know what the true stories are, so no matter how this turns out… I can’t say it isn’t the truth."
A&E's Biography Presents has previously covered many famous faces such as Chris Farley, Jeff Foxworthy and Farrah Fawcett.
