During media day for the Iowa men's basketball team, coach McCaffery said he believes Cook can be a star, an impact player on a national level.

The expectations are high for Tyler Cook, a six-foot-nine-inch freshman from St. Louis, Missouri. Iowa coach Fran McCaffery tells you what he thinks and he clearly thinks very highly of Cook. Here's what he said about him at media day: "Well, I think he's capable of being a star. I really do. You guys that have been around me know that I say what I think typically, so it's not like let's go easy and not push him. I have a responsibility to be honest, and I think he's an impact player, certainly on our team, in our league, and on a national level. I think he's that good." McCaffery didn't stop there. When asked about players he's recruited to Iowa with the greatest potential, Fran told the press, "He probably has the highest ceiling."

Does this intimidate Tyler Cook, a Top 100 recruit? Not in the least. Cook commented, "Coach McCaffery has big expectations for me. But the expectations I have for myself are even bigger."

Here's Cook's high school highlight reel, which I assure you will only whet your appetite for the season:

Iowa's first game is just over a month away. The regular season tips Friday, November 11 against Kennesaw State. Bring on the hoops.
