Maryland discovered the best way to play Luka Garza is to keep him on the bench. Garza played just 25 minutes due to foul trouble and Maryland outscored Iowa 82-72 Thursday night in College Park.

Garza picked up foul number two just 4:58 into the game. He spent nearly nine minutes on the Iowa bench. He picked up his fourth foul with 7:55 left in the game. To Garza's credit, he never fouled out and finished with 21 points. But he never got into the flow of the game. It also didn't help that Garza's replacement, Ryan Kriener also found himself in foul trouble, including picking up a technical for saying something to a Maryland player in the first half.

Anthony Cowan scored a career-high 31 to lead Maryland. The Terapins shot nearly 46% from the field compared to Iowa's 36%. Joe Wieskamp scored 17 points for Iowa but had a 16-minute stretch where he didn't score.

The loss snaps Iowa's 5 game winning streak. The Hawkeyes return home to host #19 Illinois on Sunday. The Illini shares the Big Ten lead with Michigan State.
