Iowa Hawkeye football fans were just certain the former offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz would have a tough time finding a job once he left Iowa City. But the son of Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz is moving on to another college coaching job.

Hawk Central reports that after spending one season with Maryland, Brian Ferentz has been hired as the tight ends coach at Fresno State. After departing Iowa, Ferentz spent the 2024 season as a senior offensive analyst with Maryland. The Terrapins finished the year with a  4-8 record, including a 29-13 loss to Iowa and his father, Kirk Ferentz.

Ferentz was hired by new Fresno State head coach Matt Entz, who was hired away from USC in December according to Hawk Central. Ferentz will coach a familiar position as he coached tight ends in the NFL, and at Iowa prior to becoming the offensive coordinator. He coached Rob Gronkowski in New England and worked with the likes of George Kittle, T.J. Hockensen, Noah Fant, and Sam LaPorta at Iowa. All were drafted into the NFL according to the Hawk Eye.
