One of the Biggest Sports Weekends Is Here

If you're a sports fan, this is your time of year. We're in the home stretch of the NFL. It's college football bowl season and the College Football Playoff. Men's and women's college basketball is underway. And tonight, we even get a boxing match between a YouTube influencer and a former heavyweight champion of the world! Who could ask for more than that?

Friday, December 19th - College Football Playoffs

The race for the National Championship begins tonight as the first round games of the College Football Playoff get underway. The field for the 12-team playoff includes three Big Ten teams, including last year's National Champion, Ohio State. Here are this weekend's games courtesy of ESPN.

Friday, December 19th - Boxing

Who is the face of boxing in 2025? You can argue it's YouTube star Jake Paul. He certainly will. After fighting some lesser competition and a 58-year-old Mike Tyson, Paul is putting his career on the line tonight against former heavyweight champion of the world Anthony Joshua, according to the AP. Both fighters have a lot to lose. Can Paul hang with a legitimate boxer? Is this more than just a payday for Joshua? The world is calling for a knockout of Jake Paul early. Saturday, December 20th - College Basketball

Iowa and UConn are no strangers. The two met in the 2024 Final Four with Iowa securing a hard-fought last-second victory that sent the Hawkeyes to their second straight National Championship game. UConn is ranked #1 this season in women's basketball, while Iowa comes in ranked at #11. The teams meet Saturday in the Champion's Classic. Iowa's only loss of the year is against Iowa State, while the Huskies are undefeated. Let's hope Iowa can change that. The game can be seen on FOX on Saturday afternoon.

Saturday, December 20th - NFL Doubleheader

Yes, the Eagles and Commanders play on Saturday afternoon, but let's be honest. It's all about the Bears and Packers at Soldier Field in Chicago on Saturday night. Green Bay topped the Bears two weeks ago at Lambeau, but lost last week at Denver. The Bears topped the Browns to take over first place in the NFC North. The winner of this game remains in first place and can clinch a playoff birth if the Lions lose on Sunday. The Bears are riding high, while the Packers will deal with the loss of Micah Parsons on defense for the first time. The NFL's oldest rivalry is back, and I can't wait!
