Former Cyclone Football Star Accused Of Theft Twice In One Week
Former Iowa State defensive standout Jake Knott has been charged with third-degree theft after police say he was caught stealing at a Sportsman's Warehouse location in Ankeny. The thefts reportedly occurred two different days last week.
A criminal report says that Knott was seen on video taking a laser light, gun light, and three gun holsters on Tuesday, August 22. The Des Moines Register says the items were worth more than $600.
He then returned to the store Saturday, August 26. After Knott was recognized by police, they called Ankeny police. Before they arrived, store personnel say Knott was seen taking a key chain, Bluetooth headset, and ammo for a 9mm gun. Authorities say he paid for some items with the previously mentioned merchandise in his pockets and pants. He was found with the items when he was stopped. The value of the items allegedly taken over the two days was more than $775.
A native of Waukee, Knott played at Iowa State from 2009 to 2012. He played in every game as a freshman and was a first-team All-Big 12 selection in both his junior and senior seasons before playing professional football for both Philadelphia and Miami.
Knott is scheduled to appear in court next Tuesday, September 5.
