Facebook is Adopting a Popular MySpace Feature
Facebook is about to start testing a new profile feature and it's giving me high school flashbacks!
Imagine this: it's 2005 and you're scrolling through your MySpace friends' latest bulletins. You think to yourself, "Should I post another survey? Is it time to change my layout? Do I need to add another quote to my 'About Me'? Should I upload a new mirror selfie from my digital camera? Is it the right time to switch Brooke and Gloria around in my Top 8?" No. The only change you really need right now is a new profile song.
The MySpace profile song is easily the number one thing I miss about MySpace. It was the perfect way to show your friends that new song you just downloaded from LimeWire. The good news is that I may not have to miss it for much longer.
According to Mashable, Facebook "is working on a new feature that will let you add songs to your Facebook profile." The songs you choose will either appear in a new "music" section of your profile, or you'll be able to pin it to the top of the page. The article states:
"People who visit your profile will then be able to listen to part of a song and view photos of the artist. These songs will also link to the artist's Facebook page. There will be 'millions' of songs available."
We don't exactly know when the new feature will launch, but we do know that it will be tested "soon." My only complaint is that the song won't immediately start blasting when you click on the profile (which never failed to scare the crap out of me).
By far, my longest running MySpace profile song was "Hey There, Delilah" by the Plain White T's. I loved it so much that I vowed to name my future daughter "Delilah" one day.
If you had to choose a Facebook profile song right this second, what would it be? Let us know in the comments!
