Eastern Iowa Town’s Water Tower Freezes Up

When residents of Evansdale turned on their water Monday, there was no response from the faucets.

A portion of the first day of 2018 started with residents of the Black Hawk County town of almost 5,000 without water service. The water tower had literally frozen up. Now THAT'S cold. The water eventually did come back on, but residents are under a boil order for the time being.

Just how cold has it been in Iowa the last few days? This picture shows just how quickly water freezes at 20 below zero.

I love this picture, too. I call this one, hope. When it's this cold, that's about all we've got.
