More than a foot of snow could fall on communities across eastern Iowa during the first major storm of the season.

Winter Storm Warning Issued For Most Of Iowa

Ahead of this major snowstorm, a Winter Storm Warning has been issued for all but seven counties in Iowa. The National Weather Service says that people should expect heavy snow with total snow accumulations of 7 to 15 inches.

Winds could gust as high as 40 mph Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday night leading to considerable blowing and drifting snow.

The Winter Storm Warning will be in effect from 6 p.m. on Monday until 6 a.m. on Wednesday.

How Much Snow Will We Get?

A lot. Expect a lot of snow to be on the ground before it's all said and done.

The National Weather Service says we could see around 6 inches or more area wide with some areas seeing more than 12 inches.

The white stuff will start falling from the sky this evening and will finally move out of the area by late Tuesday to early Wednesday morning.
