Eastern Iowa Man Pleads Guilty To Fraud in 30 States
Lying to people to get their money is a horrible thing and when an eastern Iowan does it, it bothers me even more.
This particular scam played on our love for family members. According to KWQC, 37-year-old Carlos Rodriquez of Dubuque pleaded guilty to wire fraud during a plea hearing on Tuesday. Court documents show he was involved in a scam that got money from people in at least 30 different states.
Rodriquez told the court another person would call elderly people and ask them to wire money to get a relative out of jail. He was among those who cashed in on the scam.
A release from the Cedar Rapids U.S. attorney's office says the sentencing date for Rodriquez has not been set.
