The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight that was planned for April 22nd had been postponed. KCRG is reporting that the flight is being rescheduled due to concerns about COVID-19.

The National Honor Flight Organization is requiring all local honor flight clubs, including the one here in Cedar Rapids, to suspend all flights through April 30th. The April flight orientation planned for March 15 has also been delayed. Organizers say that they will reschedule the flights when a new date is decided on.

Organizers said via a statement that "we're sorry these circumstances will delay the opportunity for our veterans to visit the memorials that honor them in Washington D.C. We value the health of our veterans, guardians, staff, and everyone who supports our flights. It's a top priority."

The news comes as the World Health Organization officially labeled coronavirus COVID-19 a pandemic. The NCAA men's basketball tournament will play games with no crowds, and the NBA has suspended their season after a player tested positive for the disease.
