Eastern Iowa Girl Scores Touchdown in Varsity Football Game [WATCH]
Above is Teagan Goodney of North Scott in a picture taken last Friday night at North Scott High School in Eldridge, Iowa. It was Senior Night, and in the game, Teagan would carry twice for 11 yards in a 35-7 victory over Clear Creek-Amana. That smile came a week after Goodney became the first woman in the history of North Scott to score a touchdown in a varsity football game.
Goodney, who wears number 44 on the North Scott Lancers football team, is a running back and linebacker. She's been doing something she loves, playing football since she was in third grade.
Fast forward 10 years. It's Teagan's senior year at North Scott, a team that's gone 26-5 the last three seasons. Friday, October 11, in the first quarter of the Lancers game at Clinton, she splits the defenders on a run from the left hashmark and scores her first varsity touchdown. In the process, she also makes school history. The reaction of her teammates is absolutely beautiful.
As Teagan says in an interview with KWQC, below, "If you love something you gotta go after it."
