Eastern Iowa Airport Asks For Donations for TSA Workers
The ongoing government shutdown has TSA workers once again going without pay. The Eastern Iowa Airport is asking for the public's help.
Donations Being Accepted for TSA Workers
The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that the Eastern Iowa Airport is holding a supply drive to support federal workers who are affected by the government shutdown. All physical and monetary donations will go toward TSA workers serving at the airport without pay, due to the ongoing government shutdown. Here is what you can donate to those workers.
- Non perishable food items
- household essential items
- Gift cards (gift cards must not exceed $20 and cannot be VISA)

Where Can Donations Be Dropped Off?
The Gazette reports that donations can be dropped off at the airport's information desk from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The desk is found in the middle of the terminal lobby.
This is the third government shutdown in less than one year to leave TSA workers temporarily without pay, according to the Gazette. While workers do receive backpay once the shutdown ends, it can still take weeks for that money to post to their bank account.
The current shutdown began February 14th, and only affects the Department of Homeland Security, which includes the TSA.
