Early Morning Accident Claims 3 Lives On I-380

The Iowa State Patrol says that 3 people died in an accident on Interstate 380 early this morning. The accident happened around 3:40 a.m. just south of the Swisher/Shueyville exit. The State Patrol says a vehicle was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes and collided head-on with another vehicle. All three passengers in both vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities are not being released.

The accident shut down northbound I-380 for much of the morning. The roadway re-opened just after 7 a.m.
