Dubuque Wants Back On The RAGBRAI Schedule In 2020
RAGBRAI 2020 is just 334 days away! The Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa is set for July 15th through the 19th next year. While the route and the list of cities that will be featured as overnight stops won't be announced for months, one Eastern Iowa City wants to make it on the map for 2020.
The city of Dubuque is throwing its name in right now to be a host city for RAGBRAI 2020. Since the city sits along the banks of the Mississippi, it would be the final stop on the rider's trek across the state of Iowa. Last week, Dubuque Mayor Roy Buol sent in a formal letter of request along with the application. The Dubuque city council will address the issue at its meeting tonight.
Buol said in his letter that city leaders look forward to hosting thousands of bikers at the 'Masterpiece on the Mississippi'. Dubuque has hosted RAGBRAI stops in 1974, 1983, 1993, and in 2010.
