There's a new place to stop for coffee and a quick bite to eat in Cedar Rapids! A new shop called Coffee Republic opened for business last month at 220 3rd Avenue SE.

Coffee Republic is the newest addition to the Armstrong Centre building in Downtown Cedar Rapids, which also includes Gringos and The Keto Kitchen. RyAnne, a representative for Coffee Republic, told me that the shop is owned by Skogman Realty agent Cathy Hill and her husband Kris Hill, both lifetime residents of the area.

Coffee Republic offers a wide variety of coffee drinks, like espresso, cappuccino, frappe, cold brew, Americano, mocha, and more, plus other non-coffee beverages like tea lattes and Italian soda. For food, customers can order breakfast sandwiches, paninis, soup, quiche, breakfast pockets, grilled cheese, and other sandwiches. They also plan to offer sweets from local bakers Nicki Guild at Sweet Cheesecake and Julia Gharib at Julia’s Kitchen. You can check out the monthly specials for May below:

Another cool thing about Coffee Republic is a a promotion called "Therapy Thursdays." On Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Angelique from Table for One will provide in-store chair massages for customers. You can also be on the lookout for Coffee Republic during the Downtown Cedar Rapids Farmers Markets this summer.

Coffee Republic is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Later on this month, they will have an official grand opening and ribbon cutting celebration with the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance. You can get more information and updates from Coffee Republic by following the official Facebook page HERE. A website is currently in the works.
