There is no such thing as a perfect parent. I should know. Despite my best efforts, I mess things up all the time. But the bottom line is I love my kids more than anything else and I do have their best interests at heart. So this week, another dad slightly more famous than me has come under some parental fire.

Tom Brady, perhaps you've heard of him, posted a video of him and his 6-year-old daughter on vacation doing some cliff diving. It looked like they were having a good time. Then they jumped off while holding hands. Yes, she hesitated, what 6-year old wouldn't. And yes, they did come a bit close to some rocks below.

So cue the online perfect parent police. Many in the public were outraged! How dare he put his daughter in danger! He pulled her off! She could have been seriously injured! Like I said, some of the optics in the video aren't the greatest. But here's the deal. That's not my daughter or your daughter. That's Tom Brady's kid. And he's going to do what he feels is right as a parent. If that means jumping off into the water with your child, then fine.

We're so quick to admonish celebrities when they do something that we deem risky, or wrong when it comes to their kids. Stop. Concentrate on something more important. Like your own children. That is who YOU are responsible for. I personally wouldn't do something like this with a 6-year-old. But if my kids were older and wanted to jump off a cliff with their old man I'd say JUMP!
