The paint was no place for a Boilermaker to be on Wednesday night. Iowa's junior center Monica Czinano made sure of that. She scored a new career high 38 points as the Hawkeyes ran away from Purdue 83-72 in a second round game at the Big Ten women's basketball tournament in Indianapolis.

Czinano was efficient from the floor shooting 16 of 18, according to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, while hitting all six of her free throws. She also added nine rebounds on the night. Czinano's 38 points ranks 4th highest in a Big Ten Tournament game. Purdue rallied to take the lead with just over seven minutes left in the game. But a 21-6 Iowa run put the game out of reach for good.

As great as Czinano played all night, you almost forgot what a great game freshman Caitlin Clark had. She scored 27 points, pulled down 7 rebounds and handed out 9 assists. It was a good thing Iowa got big games from Clark and Czinano, because as the Gazette points out, the rest of this Iowa team shot just 29 percent from the floor including just 3 of 22 from three point land.

The Hawkeyes now get to face former Iowa coach C. Vivian Stringer and 19th ranked Rutgers tonight. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. Iowa time. The Scarlet Knight are hot, entering the Big Ten Tournament on a nine game winning streak. But, this Iowa team has already beaten them once this year, earning a 90-84 win at Rutgers back on December 31st.
