Dear Brain and Steele,

I have a question for you about a gift idea I have for my boyfriend. We've been dating for a couple of years, and he's always said how he'd like to own a dog. He loves dogs. Especially labs.

A friend of mine's dog had puppies last month, and said that I could have one to give my boyfriend as a gift! I'm thinking this would make his Christmas! However, some of my other friends say a dog is too big of a responsibility to give as a gift.

Help! Do I give my boyfriend the dog? Or is it back to the drawing board for a Christmas gift?
