Costumed Runners Invading Cedar Rapids in Just Over A Week

For the past 4 years, just prior to Halloween, the streets of Cedar Rapids are filled with people in costumes. It's the Annual TCR/NewBo City Market Costume Run, and it's one fun event.  This year, the 5k will once again start on stage at Theatre Cedar Rapids, and take runners out the back door, through town (mainly on the Cedar River Trail) and over to NewBo City Market.  But being a 5k fun run, it's more than just making a run in a costume. Along the course, there will be 5 obstacles runners must complete.  Don't worry, they're all easy, and completely fun!

Missing this year however, is the very popular run through the haunted attraction, as Circle of Ash is not opening their doors this year unfortunately.  But no worries, as the creative minds at Theatre Cedar Rapids have other great treats in store.

Since 5ks are quite the trend lately, this is definitely one to get on your calendar, and keep it there as part of the annual schedule.  Even if you're not a 5k runner, this is one you still don't want to miss as no one is being timed.  It's just something fun and Halloween themed to do on a Saturday in Cedar Rapids. Besides, it's a great way to try out and show off that costume early.  In fact, while the run doesn't start until 4p, the fun kicks off at 3p with a costume contest.  Winners in 5 different categories will receive impressive Theatre Cedar Rapids ticket packages.  Those categories include Best 'Wow' Factor, Drop Dead Funny costume, Best Team or Duo costume, Spookiest, and best Kiddo.
