For those of you who may not know, I'm a Diet Mt. Dew junky. I have at least one every morning. I've never been a real coffee guy so diet pop is my go to in the morning. I've become so used to it, that I can't stand to drink a regular Mt. Dew. It's just too sweet. That was never the complaint about the soda that is being canceled after nearly 60 years.

Coca Cola announced that they are getting rid of Tab. CNN points out that Tab was actually the first diet soda that Coca-Cola produced. It gained a huge fan base in the 1970's and 1980's but only has a small number of fans today. The zero calorie soda was initially marketed towards women. Many people who remember Tab site that it had a bitter taste. Some even described it as tasting like bad medicine. Exactly what I want my soda to taste like. Many fans of Tab say they enjoyed it because it wasn't nearly as sweet as other diet sodas would come to be.

The end of Tab really came in 1982. That is when Coca-Cola came out with Diet Coke. But the Tab brand lived on for decades. Coke isn't alone in cutting back on under producing brands. Many other companies are using the pandemic as an excuse to make their companies more profitable and efficient.

Now that Tab is gone, expect Coca-Cola to to invest more in Diet Coke and Coke Zero. As for Tab fans, it may officially be time to start shopping on Ebay.
