The Holiday DeLight parade will not be happening in Cedar Rapids this year, but a lot of Christmas-themed festivities still will.

That includes the annual city Christmas tree lighting. The date for the event has been set for Saturday, November 24th at Greene Square in downtown Cedar Rapids. Music from Sweet Adelines will be performed starting at 5 p.m., prior to the tree lighting ceremony at 5:30.

Get into the holiday spirit earlier that afternoon with kids' activities in the Cedar Rapids Public Library at 4. Even better, a Toys for Tots collection will take place during these events as well. Books and new, unwrapped toys will be accepted.

City Councilwoman Susie Weinacht's Facebook page says the tree itself will be cut, transported and placed in Greene Square on Monday, November 19, a few days prior to its official lighting.
