How's this for a deep question on a Tuesday morning. If you could choose an age to stay for the rest of your life, which age would you choose to be? Wow, quite the choice, isn't it? How would one even go about making that choice. First of all, it's likely never going to happen, so calm down. And secondly, I think most people's answer is pretty spot on.

When this survey question was asked, the most common age that people chose was 36 years old. I have to admit, that's not a bad answer. But for me, I'm going to round up and just go with 40. Make me 40 forever and I'd be O.K. with it. Why 40?

Well, six years ago when I WAS 40, I would consider it to be a sweet spot in life. First of all, at 40, I was still in generally good shape. Sure my hairline is the same now as it was then, but what can a guy do about that!  At the age of 40 I was firmly established at my job. My kids were also at a really fun age too. Back then the kiddos were 10, 5, and 3 years old. Those were some truly fun years. Before having teenagers, and cell phone bills, and drivers licenses! It was truly a fun time to be a married, father of three!

So why not choose a younger age? Perhaps a time when it was just Holly and I, right after we got married? Don't get me wrong, those were some awesome times too. We got to make some memories that I wouldn't trade for anything. But my life didn't really begin until the kids came along. And why choose a younger age when I know so much more now!

We all think we know it all, but until you get near the age of 40, you haven't really lived yet. I'm so much wiser now than I was in my 20's. Notice I didn't say smarter. Wiser. I have more lived experiences to draw from. Wisdom is the best part of getting older. So for me, 40 is the sweet spot. Young enough to, well, feel young and wise enough to know I'm not!
