Cedar Rapids’ West Side to Get Restaurant’s Third Iowa Location

A restaurant that I quickly learned to love when it came to Cedar Rapids east side is now coming to the west side.

According to a press release from Frew Development Group, LLC, Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers will be part of a second multi-tenant building that will be built along Edgewood Road. The 7,500 square foot building, in the Westdale development, will be located next to and north of the new US Bank building. Construction is scheduled to begin this spring, with the restaurant expected to open before Thanksgiving. Freddy's will be using 3,300 square feet of the building. It will be their second Cedar Rapids location and third in Iowa. The northeast-side Freddy's opened last spring.

The remainder of the building has yet to be finalized, though Dave Drown, leasing agent from GLD Commercial says, "... several letters of intent are in the works. We're also in discussions with two, new to the market, free-standing restaurants for the two remaining outlots on Edgewood Road.”
