Cedar Rapids McDonald’s Closes For Construction

If the McDonald's off of Blairs Ferry Road in Cedar Rapids is your go-to location, you'll have to temporarily find a new one. The fast food restaurant has closed its doors for construction.

If you've visited the McDonald's at 5725 Dry Creek Ln NE in Cedar Rapids recently, you may have noticed a big sign on the door that says "Closing for Construction." Well, the construction is now underway, as you can see by the fence that is completely blocking off the building and parking lot.

There aren't many details available right now in regards to the construction project at the Blairs Ferry Road McDonald's, but the Cedar Rapids city website does show that a commercial building permit was issued on January 9th of 2025. The listing says that the permit is for a new McDonald's building, with a valuation of $2,090,000. No additional information about the new building or when it will open has been announced. As of today (February 20th), the building is still standing.

If you need a Big Mac or some McNugs, the closest McDonald's locations can be found at 5200 Edgewood Rd NE or 4520 1st Ave NE in front of Lindale Mall. The one on 1st Ave is also located in a newly-constructed building, which opened its doors back in September of 2022.
