Cedar Rapids Man Charged With Attempted Murder Following Shooting
A Thursday night shooting in Cedar Rapids has left one person fighting for their life and a Cedar Rapids man is now facing a number of charges in the shooting, including Attempted Murder.
28-year-old Kent T. Stevens, Jr. is also facing charges of Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury, Going Armed With Intent, Intimidation with a Weapon, Carrying Weapons, Possession of Firearm as a Felon, and Possession of a Controlled Substance-Marijuana.
Stevens is accused of shooting 32-year-old Isaac Chatman of Cedar Rapids at 2125 Westdale Dr. SW Thursday evening. Cedar Rapids Police were called to the apartment building at 10:47 Thursday night after receiving multiple calls of shots fired. When police arrived they found Chatman inside one of the apartments at the address. He was initially taken to a Cedar Rapids hospital before being transported to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City with life-threatening injuries.
According to a release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department, Stevens lives in apartment number four at 2125 Westdale Dr. SW. He is being held at the Linn County Jail in Cedar Rapids.
