According to Siouxland News, more than 400 long-term care facilities across Iowa have began distributing the COVID-19 vaccine. Both residents and staff at facilities such as Living Center West in Cedar Rapids received their first doses of the vaccine. Even though only 3% of COVID cases in Iowa are associated with these centers, they account for half of the deaths, according to the Health Care Association.

Siouxland News reports that "both the Pfizer and Moderna variants of the vaccine were found to be more than 90% effective in clinical trials". Let's hope that as more vaccinations continue to prove to be effective, we can leave this pandemic behind us in 2020 and get some sense of normalcy again in the new year.

Have you received the COVID-19 vaccine? If so, what was your experience like? Leave your thoughts in the comments.
