Cedar Rapids Restaurant Closes as Work on New Location Continues

Word of a Cedar Rapids restaurant closing came earlier in the month, with the official closure last week.

After three-and-a-half years serving Cedar Rapids' east side, The Boulder Tap House has closed its location on the north side of Lindale Mall. The restaurant chain announced the impending closure on June 1.

In the online announcement, Boulder Tap House said,

"To the Cedar Rapids Community,

We are saddened to announce that we will be closing the Boulder Tap House located at Lindale Mall on June 11th, 2023. However, with that being said, we look forward to opening a new Boulder Tap House that is currently under construction at the Westdale development on the southwest side of town. We are also excited to announce that we are about to launch a brand refresh, so expect to see a new and more welcoming environment as well as a revamped menu focused on scratch made craft American fare."

We first told you about the Minnesota-based restaurant chain coming to Cedar Rapids in January of 2020.

In February of 2023, we shared that Boulder Tap House had begun construction on a new location at Westdale. It will be located on the Edgewood Road side of Westdale, near RNR Tire Express and Take 5 Oil Change. Both of those businesses opened recently.

Below is how the future home of Boulder Tap House at Westdale looked at the beginning of February.

A huge amount of progress has been made since then. Below are photos of the Westdale location taken on Saturday, June 17.

Boulder Tap House currently has nine locations, seven of them in Minnesota. There are Iowa restaurants in Ames and Mason City. An opening date for Boulder Tap House at Westdale has not yet been announced.
