Coralville’s Biggest-Ever Convention Is Officially Underway

The largest single convention ever held in the city of Coralville is underway, with another packed event coming to Johnson County this week too.

The Corridor Business Journal reports that the Catholic Daughters of America is holding its national convention in Coralville through July 26th. It is the largest single convention ever held in the city. The event is being held at the Hyatt Regency Coralville Hotel and Convention Center. Attendees are also filling other hotel rooms throughout the Iowa River Landing. The CBJ reports that over 1,000 delegates from across the nation will attend the event.

The convention is expected to generate $1.7 million in economic impact for the city, according to the CBJ. Attendees will not only stay in Coralville but will visit other Eastern Iowa cities including downtown Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, and the Amana Colonies.

Second National Convention Coming to Iowa City

The CBJ reports that another large event is coming to Johnson County. The National Criminal Defense College is hosting two Trial Practice Institutes in partnership with the University of Iowa College of Law. Nearly 160 criminal defense attorneys from around the country will attend.

The first session was held in June, with a second session happening this week. The CBJ reports that the event is based at The Graduate Hotel in downtown Iowa City. Sessions are also scheduled to return to the city in June and July of 2028.
