They say curiosity killed the cat, but in this case curiosity saved the cat's family.

On Friday, Sandi Martin said she was playing with her cat Lilly, but Lilly kept sniffing the valve that goes to her family's fireplace.

Sandi wanted to know what Lilly was smelling, so she leaned down and took a sniff herself. She immediately recognized the odor of natural gas.

Immediately, Sandi called her gas company, who sent someone to look at the leak.

“He tested the valve and saw that we had a dangerous gas leak,” she said. “It could have been a disaster, but instead it’s a nice thing, she helped us.”

Sandi adopted Lilly from Cat Adoption Team. Lilly has had an interesting life, living with leukemia and extra toes.
